FIXTURES AND RESULTS

Sunday 17th September (A) Troggs 5 vs 2 Bocca League Match

In what was always going to be a title clash, even so early on in the Season, Troggs travelled to the mini soccer center, stanhope, to do battle with title favourties Bocca. The Troggs started well pushing forward at every opportunity with Strike partners Pearce and Roffey coming close before Roffey suffered a hamstring injury and had to be replaced by Newman on 27. Shortly after it was club captain Ben Gibbs who broke the dealock, nicking infront of the keeper to send home an Adamson Cross. Bocca proved to be the hardest opponents Troggs have faced for some time and extended pressure lead to a Bocca equaliser not long after following some neat play. Troggs regained the advantage when 87 year old center back Chris Smith leapt, Salmon like, to nod home a richard Moon Corner to send the Troggs in 2-1 up at the break.

Pearce Extended Troggs lead soon after half time after Dyke released him with a cross field pass. Bocca pushed hard to get back in the game and were in not for some heroics from Keeper Aaron Brown and player manager Tony Carty they surely would have scored.

Moon put the game beyond Bocca, scoring a carbon copy of Gibbos first after yet another Admason cross.

Bocca clawed one back, only for Dyke to bury them with a 25yard drive past the despairing Keeper.

Summer signing Aaron Borwn proved he mat be crucial to Troggs title bid this year , picking up a deserved Man of the Match award, with Adamson the pick of the outfield players.
