FIXTURES AND RESULTS

Sunday 03 September 3-0 vs Crusader (H) League.

Troggs began the season with a confident display despatching newly promoted Crusader 3-0. It took the Troggs 15or so minutes to find their feet with new signings Aaron Brown, Nick Parrock and Adam Roffey all making their full league debuts, but after that they started to take control of the game. With Gibbs and Adamson enjoying freedom in their new wide roles under Fresh thinking manager Tony Carty, the troggs pressed down the wings just lacking that one killer ball. That was until Marcus Pattel crossed dangerously enough for the keeper to fumble and the ever-present Roffey pounced to slot home on 28 for a well deserved first goal in a Troggs shirt.

Troggs felt like the better team at the break and came out determined to pin the crusaders in their own half. The impressive Marcus Pattel opitimised some lovely passing football and produced a slide rule pass to Dyke, who opened up his body and to everyones suprised lashed a left foot strike into the top corner from the edge of the D to make it 2-0 after 60 mins. Troggs kept pushing with Moon, Adamson and Pearce notably troubling Crusader, the pressure leading to Gibbs slotting home for Troggs 3rd on 72.

At the back, Cruasder did little to trouble new signing Aaron Brown, although he did well when called upon. Noting his own weak point as coming off his line, Brown rushed out on 70minutes and bravely clashed with the Crusader striker preventing a certain Goal. The Defencive Quartet of Dogman, Carty, Grandad and Bob were barely under pressure and with Smith winning everything in the air they kept a confident clean sheet despite Carty's best efforts to give the other team the ball.

Fans and pundits alike sounded upbeat after the game as to how the Troggs season could go. The new signings slotted in well and last years veterans look to have brought their game on. It looks like there will be goals all over the side and everyone is looking forward to some flowing attacking football and genuinely setting their sights on league and cup victories.

Ben Gibbs took the Official Man of the Match Award but Troggs FC have overuled handing it to Marcus Pattel(/Pearce) who looks like he has a point to prove this year.
