Sunday 15th October (H) Won 6-2 vs Brewmasters Reserves League Match
By Paul Newman
Another polished performance from the Troggs saw the Smarden outfit maintain their 100% league start to the 2006-2007 season. It wasn't the best start for the home side after a Brewmasters shot was wickedly deflected past Troggs keeper Aaron Brown by his own centre back, Grandad smith.
The unfazed Troggs were only behind for 10 minutes after Marcus Pearce found Richard Moon in space in the box who slotted past the despairing Brews Keeper. The Troggs then went ahead through the sweet left foot of in-form Andrew Adamson. The left winger hit a vicious volley through a crowd of players to find the bottom corner on 28 minutes.
Although the home side had gone behind they were good for the half time lead.
The Troggs started the second half brightly and Adamson added his second after being put in by George Dyke. Pearce then jumped on the band wagon and slotted home from close range from an Adamson cross; arguably the move of the match.
Adamson then rounded of a vintage personal performance latching onto a mistake by Brewmasters Ian Lilley. The winger clean through placed the ball to the keepers left.
Brews second was little consolation as the home side continued to dominate.
The introduction on Adam Rothey and Paul Newman with 25 minutes to go saw the pair combine well with the latter finding Rothey through on goal. The promising youngster finished well to complete the rout.
Troggs march on in their league and cup hunt, Brews looking more and more like relegation material as the weeks pass.
We caught up with MOM George Dyke post game and put some questions to him;
do you think that the league and cup double is still a realistic possiblity?
Dyke: Definetly, we are yet to face everyone in the league, but i think beating bocca showed we have what it takes
obviously 5 in 5 is a fantastic start but do you see areas where the team can improve?
Dyke: I think any team is always open to improvement. We didn't defend that well, two sloppy goals, the gaffa should be starting which will bolster the d-fence. Bruce showed signs he will be a first team regular and newman will undoubtedly demand a place once fit.
added by troggsFC: George Dyke picked up the token 'you used to live in our village' MOM award but often unsung hero Sam Leggis received yet another unofficial MOM and Bruce Dyer put forward his own case on his first start in over 6months.
