Troggs March on to Homelands!!
Troggs overcame Egerton by three goals to the good in the Mika Windybank Cup Semi Final. They will face the winner of next sundays semi between Highfield and Bethersden at Homelands in April. The Troggs are the current holders of the Cup known to the public as the Pater Pain Memorial Cup, which troggsfc.co.uk have recently rebranded in honour of injured winger Mika Windybank. A determined performance from the Troggs saw club captain Ben Gibbs head home for a deserved lead on 55 minutes. Mooney then added to Egertons misery with two superb strikes getting on the end of some flowing football, delighting the 50+ strong crowd at the minnis. <Click for Full Match Report>
INTERVIEW WITH THE GAFFA:
Q: Paul, great victory! Are you claiming tactical nouse or do you think your players just wanted it more?
A: I think it was a bit of both really. The decision to go with three centre midfield players proved vital as we controlled the game form there.
Q: We know you were nervous in the build up to the game and there were those saying you had to win. Do you feel your job is safe now?
A: I think it was always safe really. The chairman has always said I have his full backing. This victory just cements that.
Q: Great performances all over the pitch but anyone stand out for you?
A: The defence as a whole were fantastic and in that I'm including the wing-backs. It was a great team performance too. Richard Moon had his best game in a long time
Q: Obviously the press have jumped all over Josh not turning up. what action has been taken? Will he play again?
A: I can confirm that he will play again for us but discipline is inevitable
Q: So cup final in the bag, we guess your thoughts now turn to the league- 6 points off Eagles; how do you see that panning out?
A: We need to win all our games and we'll be promoted. It really is that simple
GC: Thanks Paul, well done and good luck.
PN: Thank you.
