Q) Congratulations on your new job, how long have you had your eyes on the role?
A) I would be lying if I said its was an impulse at the AGM. I would have run it last year but Chunk was so enthusiastic that I decided to leave the big man to it. With his withdrawal I thought why not lets give it a go!
Q) Are you looking to bring in any new players? or are you happy with the ones you've got?
A) We need a new goalie as we haven't got one. I believe my scouting team may have come up with a replacement. I am content with what we have but will be going to watch the games Mr Archer is organising for the younger lads. I think we could do with bringing the youth through from Smarden.
Q) are there any players you will be letting go?
A) Lets see who turns up to pre-season training first! I have heard of a a bit a grief brewing (very like Ronaldo - Rooney) between Mooney and Maggot. I think I may have to take Mooney to one side and tell him to drop the issue surrounding the cup final penalty or he will find himself warming the bench. THERES NO I IN TEAM ONLY ME!
Q) How's pre-seson going? any friendlies coming up to announce?
A) 3 friendlies for Sunday's kicking off on 13th August, 20th & 27th. I know we have got Ashford Rail, Ashofrd Eagles but can't remember the other. Thats what I have Arch for.
Q) Rumours are rife that paul newman wants to get back involved as director of football, any truth in these rumours?
A) I haven't had contact with Mr Newman but if he wants to get involved I am sure I can find something he will enjoy doing. However I will announce that I have invited Dave Butch Collins to be my number 2 as i would also like to play and want someone independant on the touch line calling the shots. I think Butch would be excellent and then coming on at the end of games to notch a couple.
Q) Newman tried 442, 451, 352 to varying success. At this time what would you say is your favoured formation for the troggs? and why?
A) Again lets see who turns up for pre-season. In Chunks Testimonial i played 442 but lacked a holding midfield playing. With a full squad that would do me nicely! We need to be strong all over the pitch and work for each other both on and off the ball. It we do that it doesn't make a lot of difference what we play as we have the quality and ability to beat anyone on our day.
Q) what are your aims for the season? league and cup double? or would promotion satisfy you enough?
A) I want everyone to enjoy the season, be mates on the pitch (as well as off), fight together as a team (not literally Mr Stocker) and the results will follow. Obviously I would like be successful but its not at all costs!
